Thursday Doors – The Chapel, Montville

Montville is a quaint little town in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, about an hour and a half drive from Brisbane. I was there about four weeks ago for a friend’s wedding. A very good friend’s wedding, in fact, as I had the great honour of being a bridesmaid.

The wedding ceremony was held at The Chapel, which is possibly the quaintest but also most stunning building in all of Montville.ย

It is a small building, but there were only about 60 guests, so it was perfect. The whole place was immaculately clean and neat. It’s not hard to see why this place is so popular for weddings.

The doors, of course, were something special. Carved by a local artist, I believe.

The detail continues inside as well, with the pews each having their own woodland flora or fauna carved on the ends, and these vines stretching along the ceiling:

The reception was held in the Poet’s Cafe function space, which is pretty much right next to The Chapel. Fairy lights and candles made for a magical atmosphere.

  1. Wow! That is really a beautiful venue and the doors are magnificent! Wonderful place to hold a wedding. Great share ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. This little chapel looks like it’s straight out of a fairy tale!! I love the peek-a-boo window edging along the front. You did a great job of capturing the twinkle lights in the last photo (I find that kind of photo really challenging!)

    • I actually missed the sunsets while I was there! Mustโ€™ve been too busy with wedding things to think of it. Oh well, Iโ€™m sure Iโ€™ll do another trip or two one day
